Is Islamorada Piling For Civil Construction Important?

Islamorada piling works well for civil construction especially the large buildings supporting heavy loads. This deep foundation transfers loads to deeper levels and this is not possible with a shallow, traditional foundation. The workers drive vertical wood, steel, or concrete columns into the ground to give the building an extra support on its top. The traditional material used for pile design is timber but today the industry often uses concrete steel encased or reinforced. The workers position these at a regular interval, like intersections between walls. It is important to drive this down to a firmer and denser level as this prevents either collapse or uplift.

It may be necessary to link the Islamorada piles by concrete reinforced beams, raft slabs, or pile caps.  The shallow and traditional foundation design is good for suitable grounds when it supports just moderate loads. For unsuitable ground though deep piling becomes necessary. The possible factors include a high, water table; water affecting the stability of soil, unstable foundation trenches, or unsuitable ground for over two meters below. Removing the deep foundation from previous construction may become too expensive so piling is the only solution for the builders. Driving in the piles straight instead of excavating shaft first, offers advantages like soil compacting around pile, increased load-bearing capacity, and strengthening.

The construction industry uses different types of Islamorada piles with some having a special use. The common options for residential use include the following.

•    Mini piles: it has solid or hollow center and ideal for construction sites having a limited access.

•    Continuous flight grout injected auger: the workers pour grout down hollow center forming permanent column with little vibration or noise.

•    Bottom driven steel cased pile: drive these from bottom of pile and not the top so it does not need heavy machinery. The load it can carry varies in the 5–85-ton range.

•    Contiguous:
this creates the retaining walls and works well for basement construction.

•    Grundomat steel cased driven piles: a compressed air, internal engine drives this Islamorada piling in the ground. It works well for the light loads like conservatory and cause little vibration.

Deep and shallow foundation signify relative solid depth for founding the building. The shallow foundation depth is less than footing’s width and is under 10 feet deep. The builders use this for strong surface soil that supports imposed loads. The depth of the deep foundation is over the width of building’s foundation and this is ideal for transferring the building loads deep into ground. Islamorada piling with deep foundation is for soil near surface with a bearing capacity less or equal to 700 pounds for every square foot.
